Campus Staff Spotlight | Johnny Vega Ramirez

Our Campus contains multiple buildings on 44 acres. It takes a lot of manpower to make sure that all the buildings and outdoor areas are running smoothly.

Overseeing the maintenance and consistent beautification of our property, our Director of Engineering, Johnny Ramirez makes it his mission to keep our Campus at peak operational excellence. Johnny has a rare characteristic of being a native Austinite. Let’s find out a little more about the man responsible for leading our team of engineers.

What is your name and title? Johnny Vega Ramirez – Director of Engineering

Where were you born? Austin, TX

Please briefly detail your professional experience. In 2006 I started at the entry level of Hotel Engineering with Hyatt Regency Lost Pines.  Four years ago, I had the pleasure of opening the Hyatt Place Austin Airport as Chief Engineer.  I have been the Assistant Director of Engineering for Omni Hotels for the last two years.  I have also worked with Compass Group at AT&T Hotel and Conference Center for almost 5 years.

Where is your favorite travel destination and memory? Inks Lake since I was able to introduce my family to camping for the first time there and we have since began traveling to different Texas state parks to enjoy the outdoors.

Where have you not yet been able to visit, but have always wanted to? Nashville, TN to see the Tennessee Titans play and take in the music too.

What is your favorite thing about Austin? I enjoy the live music atmosphere and that there is so much of it on any given night.  Also, you can find great food.

What does having a position at Campus on Lake Austin mean to you? It gives me the opportunity to ensure the guest experience with our property will be great and that their stay with us will exceed their expectations.  It is for a great cause as I like to support our teachers and Texas education as much as I can.
