Campus Staff Spotlight | Chris Coleman

As we continue our journey as a premier meeting and event venue, we would like to introduce you to some of the staff that keep our 44-acre Campus running.

No property is complete without a General Manager. The GM is the cornerstone in establishing the culture of the venue and leads the staff in all aspects of service and execution. We are proud to have Chris Coleman leading the charge. A Texas native and hospitality veteran, Chris was the first employee at Campus on Lake Austin. Let’s get to know him a little better.

What is your name and title?  Chris Coleman – General Manager

Where were you born?  Houston, TX

Please briefly detail your professional experience.  I have spent the last 25 years working in hotels ranging from a 10-unit timeshare in Aspen, CO to the 3000 room Gaylord Opryland in Nashville, TN.  I have experience in a 5-star 5 diamond hotel and spent almost 14 years with Omni Hotels before joining this project.

Where is your favorite travel destination and memory?  I proposed to my wife on the tallest Mayan Temple in Tikal within the jungles of Guatamala, then spent 5 days celebrating in Ambergris Caye, Belize.

Where have you not yet been able to visit, but have always wanted to?  Taj Mahal, India

What is your favorite thing about Austin?  The fact that the city of Austin has a soul and identity, besides the fact is has some of the best music and food in the world.

What does working at Campus on Lake Austin mean to you?  It’s truly something special.  Growing up in the Texas public school system, I am super proud of being a part of continuing education.  From a hospitality standpoint, this is why I got into this business.  Being able to focus on one group at a time and delivering world class service is what I have been trained to do throughout my professional career.
